Barrick Gold president and CEO Mark Bristow said that, so far this year, the mine has paid RD$522 million in direct and indirect tax revenue, bringing its total tax payments since it went into commercial production in 2013 to just under RD$3 billion (RD$3MM). The extension of its lifespan means that it will continue to be a major value-adding stakeholder for the Dominican Republic and its people well into the future.
